Just got back from a great trip. Rented a car at CDG in Paris (got upgraded after some dodgy under the table cash with the lady on the desk). Stuck in traffic getting out of Paris then toured the countryside near Fontainbleu eventually arriving at a great B&B in the evening – Les Roches. Great [...]
… very true… don’t drink out of the taps in this place. Stick to bottled water (or Heineken).
However you can check out the photos from the holiday.
Location: South Sweden. Purpose: Weekend away.
Result: Nice little town, rather dull in the middle of winter, but likely great in summer – we’ll come back some day.
Is home of Absolut vodka and was expecting place like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – is a bit like that but no visitors.
Hotel (Åhus Gästgifvaregård) very recommended for [...]
So it’s a long story as to how this happened but the short version is that young Stephen Wincott did a great job in getting tickets for this world cup (credit where credit is due).
However his timing was somewhat unfortunate… with the first match we were due to attend (see previous post) being on the [...]
Went over with Dad to Paris for the weekend of England’s worst ever RWC performance. They were diabolical and dull. At least I can never be accused of being a fair weather fan.
Fortunately Paris was great – staying in 11th arrondisment – near Bastille – a road called Rue Keller – very up and coming [...]
Trip to Spain in early August 2007.
Flew down to Barcelona with long delays courtesy of Sterling (rapidly becoming my least favourite airline: 1. it is really not much cheaper than SAS 2. it is almost always delayed), although to be fair to them they chartered an Air Slovakia plane to take us down so they [...]
Some photos from our recent trip around the Adriatic and Balkans.

Lene and I took a weekend in Berlin. The photos show pretty much all the highlights but the only place we kind of missed out was the ‘blind restaurant’: you basically eat in the pitch dark and are served by people with visual impairments. Can’t say that the food was great but I’d recommend the [...]
Poland isn’t far from Copenhagen but its certainly a different way of life. All the traditional images of Poland were there: horse and cart, grey Stalinist architecture (for example 5 story concrete tower blocks in the middle of the countryside), potato fields, ugly old ladies, potato fields etc. However there is a Poland with vibrant [...]
A one-day trip to Skåne to take in the Swedish summer, finish off what we wanted to do last summer and congratulate Jenny and Rene on their wedding.
